The work at the Penchant Basin Hyrologic Restoration project involves creation of 40-acres of new marsh land by hydraulically dredging 220,000 CY of material from the floor of Bayou Penchant and placing the material in containment areas created by rock dikes containing over 35,000-TON of R-300 Rip Rap. The project also consists of protection for existing marsh lands through the construction of a 14,000-FT earthen berm along the shore of Bayou DeCade, and facing the berm with an additional 35,000-TON of R-150 Rip Rap. This project also includes construction of four sheet pile weirs with flap gates and associated steel fabrications and signage. This is strictly a water access project with the nearest marina being located 30 minutes from either site by boat.
